It’s Been 2 Months

Just over two months have passed since I last posted on this site. Why? Well, it was pretty simple. I am always one to try out new things and use my playground to enjoy all of the technology in front of me. Two months ago, I found myself in a quandary  I had less and less time to spend on the blog yet I was still attempting to stay active. I enjoy using Instagram and seeing as how they are using Tumblr as a destination for their sharing, I decide to give Tumblr a whirl to see which platform I like better. Here is what I came up with.

Mobility in Posting

I am part of the statistics that say that smartphones are dominating the market and how we interact and share online. Spend enough time around me and you’ll hear me talk about it in various ways because I believe that a company that isn’t investing in the mobile experience, they are handing over their customers to the competition.

Being on the go, mobility has been huge for me to post and share thoughts, inspirations and images. I have been one lately to share quick items and not spend a great deal of time pouring into writing out my thoughts. This has made mobility a big part of my process. Although, the downside is doing a long form post such as this. I wouldn’t attempt to do so on my iPhone or iPad. Both Tumblr and WordPress have mobile apps that you can post with but I personally prefer the use of Tumblr in those situations.

Dynamic Control

While Tumblr allows me to have quick access to posting from a mobile device or a desktop, you are considerably more limited in the control of your post. This is where using WordPress stands out for me. I enjoy the ability to customize the post in every way that I need to. I can add in multiple videos or photos while with Tumblr, you are more limited in how this lays out.

In the End

At the end of the day, I found that I will end up with two sites bryanwillmert.com (WordPress) and bryanwillmert.me (Tumblr) and each will have their own focus. I know this isn’t a complete breakdown of what these sites offer but it is a quick glimpse of my journey through the exploration through both platforms.

Enjoy and happy posting!

This weekend has proven to be easier than I anticipated, but that largely has to do with the fact that I have not been attempting anything beyond Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and a small handful of other apps.

During the flight, I did use Textastic on The iPad as I was reading through the htmlandcss book.

The one thing that I did miss as we were visiting new areas was our DSLR camera that we chose not to travel with. While mobile photos are great for sharing, I like the functionality that I can accomplish with our Nikon.

On to enjoying St. Patty’s Day!!

Mobile Weekend

This weekend I decided to do a little experiment with myself, I would spend the weekend away from my laptop and use only mobile devices.

It’s actually starting quite easily since travel is involved and the weight of my bag is drastically decreased!

More to come!

Spend 10 minutes with me and you will learn that I am a HUGE proponent of mobility; as well as the growth of the mobile markets. This in mind, I found this infographic from Daily Infographic, to be highly entertaining.

The Power of Mobile

What type of phone do you have?

Smartphone?

I thought so. Statistics say that by the end of this year 48% of people will be using mobile phones that can access the internet. There also doesn’t seem to be any slowing in these trends either as iPhone and Android apps are being released by the truckful everyday.

More and more mobile devices like smartphones and tablets will take over our common computer usage. I know in the world that I see, tablets are often replacing computers for reading, social networking, writing and other various tasks. So, this begs the question; how is my company, church, or organization getting involved in the mobile space? Are you creating apps or mobile sites to engage users?

It is a lot to think about, but you do need to come to some resolution on what you will do to engage your consumers, friends, family, and everyone around.

If that hasn’t sold you, then here are some goodies to persuade you even more!
