Archives For iphone

There was an interesting insight that I came across tonight, a brands advertising impacts my kids. Some would say that advertising negatively impacts children; and with many brands I would say that you could agree. The ads around alcohol, self-image, and other areas of vanity can be highly destructive people of all ages. But this is much more set for a future post about the impact of advertising on the population, but for tonight something that stuck out to me was far different.

Many brands have figured out the fact that if connect kids with your product, and it is a positive experience, then they will begin to build loyalty to your brand. This spoke very true when the latest iPhone commercial came on. Here it is:

It’s a fun showing of the features of the iPhone 4s with Siri. Now, you may have not had the best experience with Siri, but the way that commercial portray’s it is pretty sweet. Now the phrase that came from my daughter showed how Apple is pulling her in all while marketing to me. She finished watching the commercial and then said “wow.. that is really cool”. This phrase was said with a stunned demeanor of amazement and they began to create a loyal fan for the future.

Now granted, I don’t help in this process because we own all macs in our home and I am a raving Apple fan.

Either way, as kids grow up they form their own opinion about the things they want to buy, some even go towards the opposite of their parents just out of pure spite. No matter how they view what their parents want, they will form their own opinion so if a brand captures them early and they can tend be pulled in to stay with that brand. Well that plus a large input into the “cool factor”. hahaha..

Just a few fun thoughts out of my house tonight!

This weekend has proven to be easier than I anticipated, but that largely has to do with the fact that I have not been attempting anything beyond Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and a small handful of other apps.

During the flight, I did use Textastic on The iPad as I was reading through the htmlandcss book.

The one thing that I did miss as we were visiting new areas was our DSLR camera that we chose not to travel with. While mobile photos are great for sharing, I like the functionality that I can accomplish with our Nikon.

On to enjoying St. Patty’s Day!!

Mobile Weekend

This weekend I decided to do a little experiment with myself, I would spend the weekend away from my laptop and use only mobile devices.

It’s actually starting quite easily since travel is involved and the weight of my bag is drastically decreased!

More to come!

Spend 10 minutes with me and you will learn that I am a HUGE proponent of mobility; as well as the growth of the mobile markets. This in mind, I found this infographic from Daily Infographic, to be highly entertaining.

The Power of Mobile

What type of phone do you have?

Smartphone?

I thought so. Statistics say that by the end of this year 48% of people will be using mobile phones that can access the internet. There also doesn’t seem to be any slowing in these trends either as iPhone and Android apps are being released by the truckful everyday.

More and more mobile devices like smartphones and tablets will take over our common computer usage. I know in the world that I see, tablets are often replacing computers for reading, social networking, writing and other various tasks. So, this begs the question; how is my company, church, or organization getting involved in the mobile space? Are you creating apps or mobile sites to engage users?

It is a lot to think about, but you do need to come to some resolution on what you will do to engage your consumers, friends, family, and everyone around.

If that hasn’t sold you, then here are some goodies to persuade you even more!

Mashable reported today that Foursquare hit its 1 Billionth check-in and they passed a long a great visualization to go with it!
