Lately, I have been looking to replace my 1999 Jeep Cherokee with a new(er) vehicle. I have been searching around various websites and also looking at some of my favorite auto manufacturers. In all this searching, I think I have narrowed it down to one vehicle, the Marauder. Ok, stepping back to reality, it will not happen due to the incredible price tag, but this was sure fun to watch!
When you think of January 6th, what comes to mind? Snow? Frigid cold temperatures? Not this last weekend.
Just as the weather was amazing, I had a unique opportunity to test drive a 2012 Ford Edge from the Suburban Collection. The #socialtestdrive began with a visit to the Suburban Ford Dealership in Waterford, MI. Patrick Reyes had connected me with Keriann Maltby with the Suburban Collection. As they assessed what kind of car I would like to drive, Keriann then connected me up with Zac Holmes with Suburban Ford. The Suburban Collection gave a far greater experience than any Klout Perk that I have ever received.

The Edge
This post wouldn’t be complete without my take on the vehicle itself. Granted this was one of the more high end editions of the edge, but I found it to be incredibly comfortable. From the technology (Ford Sync System), to the panoramic sunroom, to the amenities that spoiled beyond belief. Is there anything better than having your seat warm beneath you while you are on a cold morning? There really isn’t much that I can say that is bad about the vehicle. Even as we dove deep into figuring out what we didn’t like about the vehicle, the only things we were able to find was that the floor mats seemed a bit small for the back seat area and the handle for closing the front door was in a place that didn’t work well. Think about the weight of a door and the pull on that door to close it. To have the hand so far forward made it difficult to shut the door without it seeming awkward.
All in all though, if I was ready to buy a vehicle right now, the Ford Edge would be at the top of my list.
The Roads the Edge Traveled
This last wekend we took the Edge on a real life test around the Detroit area. There was a debate on visiting Grand Rapids or East Lansing, but in the end we spent some time taking friends out to dinner, drove to a friends house to watch football, to visit friends in Detroit, and to move all over Oakland County.
The real world test went quite well and I must say that it was very difficult to return to the 1999 Jeep Cherokee that I drive right now. Not because the Jeep is bad, but because the newness of the Edge was so delightful.
Suburban Ford
It as a real treat to work with the team at Suburban Ford in Waterford. They were very hospitable and did a wonderful job setting me up with the vehicle. The day that I showed up to pick up the Edge, I was greeted by their team and walked through the process. I even had a great visit from their sales manager who was quite the gentleman and open to contacts incase I needed anything during the time of having the vehicle. The people at Suburban Ford were top notch and classy.
This weekend has already started off in a couple amazing ways. The first being that on January 6th, it was 50 plus degrees in Detroit today! Secondly, Suburban Collection and Suburban Ford have put the keys to a 2012 Ford Edge into my hands for the weekend. They have done this a couple times with a few people and I am fortunate enough to be one of the people to partake in the #socialtestdrive.
Here is the big question.
We have the weekend in front of us, a great SUV in the driveway, and beautiful weather. So..
Where should I take the car?
